Raycris Top Secret vom Tanzenbach

As with most breeds, Munsterlander puppies are extremely appealing but please read this first to get a better insight into this lovable but boisterous breed......

The Large Munsterlander is an HPR (hunt, point, retrieve) gundog breed, originally conceived as an all-round working breed and it has a genetic propensity for activity.  By its very nature it is a dog needing space.  They want exercise although it does not have to be excessive – but they do need activities to keep them bodily and mentally healthy.

The original German breeders looked for a dog which not only could perform its role as a general hunting dog, but could double as a general farm dog guarding the property and family.  Although it will warn vociferously when it detects intruders, the breed should not have an aggressive nature.  As a breed it is underestimated for its ability in the field, in the show ring and as a companion.  It is a keen worker, has an excellent nose, staying power, and works equally well on land and in water, an ideal dog for the rough shooter.  It is probably an ideal medium/large-sized, athletic dog for an active young family living in the country that likes country pursuits.  Highly intelligent, they will romp for hours with children, they love games in the garden like ‘hunt the toy’ but will be equally ready for a stroll to the pub in the evening.

This is strictly a ‘people dog’ and dislikes intensely being left alone for long periods of time.  They love their family dearly and would like to be involved in all the family activities.
